Dacor HGPR36S 36-Inch Gas Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Cooktop burner that clicks but does not catch
  2. Self-clean cycle that fails to finish
  3. Oven temperature that is off from the setting
  4. Altitude or fuel setup that does not match the house

The Dacor HGPR36S is a Heritage 36-inch gas range with electronic igniters and a self-cleaning oven, made for natural gas and LP and adjustable for altitude. It is the middle size in a family with the HGPR30S and HGPR48S, and it is common in older kitchens that were remodeled around a 36-inch cooking surface.

At 36 inches there are more burners to check, and ignition is where we start. A burner that clicks but does not catch can have a damp igniter, a poorly seated cap, or a weak spark, and each looks the same from the outside. We test them in turn. In the oven, the self-clean cycle is a hard test of the lock and the temperature controls, so a cycle that never finishes sends us there. If the oven temperature is off, we compare it with a thermometer first.

Fuel and altitude setup are worth confirming. A range adjusted for the wrong conditions burns poorly, so we read the label and check the settings. Parts for an older Heritage range can be scarce, and we confirm them first. The estimate is in writing before work, and 30 days of workmanship coverage follow.

HGPR36SHGPR36S questions
How can I tell if my igniter is weak?

A weak igniter clicks for a long time before the flame appears, or the oven is slow to light. We test it and the gas flow before replacing anything.

Does my range need to be adjusted for altitude?

It is adjustable, and the right setting depends on where the range is installed. We check that the altitude setting and the fuel both suit your installation.

How is the HGPR36S different from the HGPR36?

The HGPR36 is the Heritage Pro version, while the HGPR36S belongs to the Heritage family. Parts can differ, so we read your label before ordering.
