What C-70 means

C-70 appears on Dacor Contemporary dual-fuel steam ranges, such as the DOP48C96DLS, when the steam sensor shows an open or shorted circuit with the oven running. The steam sensor tells the control what is happening in the steam system, and when its reading is invalid the control cannot run steam cooking correctly. You see C-70 on the display. We service these Dacor steam ranges, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.

Common causes of C-70

  • The steam sensor
  • The wiring and connector for the steam sensor
  • The control reading the sensor circuit
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Put the mode knob in the Off position and run the range from a fresh start. 2. If C-70 shows up again, turn off the breaker for the range for at least 30 seconds, then restore power. 3. If the code stays, stop using steam cooking and ask us to set up a visit.

! Why to stop there
  • The code points to the steam sensor circuit, but we test the sensor, its connection and the control before replacing parts.
  • Tell us your exact model when you book, because steam ranges differ and we want the right parts on the truck.
  • If a repair makes sense, you see the cost on paper first and the work carries a 30-day warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
C-70C-70 questions
What does C-70 mean on my Dacor steam range?

The steam sensor gives an open or shorted reading during cooking, so the control has no valid view of the steam system and steam cooking may not run.

Can I still bake without steam?

Possibly, but C-70 can interrupt normal operation. If the oven keeps showing the code, stop and let us test the sensor circuit.

Is C-70 related to the drain code C-72?

They both concern the steam system, but C-70 is a sensor reading while C-72 is a problem with the drain system.
