What F6 means

On classic Dacor wall ovens and ranges with the ERC electronic control, -F6- is a memory error. After power-up or after a clean cycle, the control compares its stored settings, held in a memory chip called an EEPROM, against a checksum, and a mismatch sets this alarm. Only the time of day and the timer keep working. The usual repair is a new electronic control, and the ERC is used in the ERSD, PCS/D, RSD, RSE, RSG, MCS/D and ECS/D families.

Common causes of F6

  • Stored settings in the control memory that no longer match their checksum
  • A power disturbance during power-up or a clean cycle
  • A failing ERC control board
  • Heat or moisture damage to the control
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Notice whether the code appeared right after a power outage or a self-clean cycle, and tell us when you call. 2. Use only the clock and timer, which still work, and do not rely on the oven for cooking. 3. Do not open the control or try to reset the oven by pulling parts. 4. Call us to have the control checked.

! Why to stop there
  • A memory mismatch could come from a one-time power event or from a control that is wearing out, and only testing shows which.
  • When the control needs replacing, we confirm that a matching ERC is available before the repair, since parts for these older ovens can be scarce.
  • You see a written price before we begin, and we tell you plainly if a new control is not worth putting in your oven.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F6F6 questions
What does -F6- mean on my Dacor ERC oven?

The control found that its stored settings do not match the checksum it expects, checked at power-up or after a clean cycle. Only the clock and timer work while the alarm is on.

Can I clear F6 myself?

We do not recommend trying. The memory error is in the control itself, and the usual fix is a replacement ERC. Please leave the control closed and call us.

Will you repair an older oven with F6?

Yes, if a matching control can be found. We confirm the part first, give you a written price before the work, and cover it with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
