HDCT304

Dacor HDCT304 Dual Cooktop Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Burners that click but do not ignite
  2. Loose or corroded wiring connections to the igniters
  3. A gas smell near a valve or fitting
  4. Knobs that do not turn their valves smoothly

The Dacor HDCT304 is a 30-inch Heritage Dual Cooktop. It was sold for natural gas as the HDCT304/NG and for propane as the HDCT304/LP, so the first thing we do on a visit is find out which one is in your counter. It has been discontinued for some time.

When a burner on a cooktop like this will not ignite, the cause is often simple: a dirty igniter, a burner cap that is not seated, or a loose wire where the igniter connects. We check those in that order. If you ever smell gas, turn the cooktop’s gas valve off, open a window and call your gas utility before you call us. Fittings and valves are checked for leaks only with the gas off at the shutoff.

Heritage cooktops are older, and finding a part can take some searching. We would rather tell you that up front than start a repair we cannot finish. The label shows the exact model and serial, which we match to the part. You will have our estimate in writing before work starts, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers what we do.

HDCT304HDCT304 questions
Is the HDCT304 a natural gas or LP cooktop?

It came in both. The HDCT304/NG is for natural gas and the HDCT304/LP is for propane. The label on your unit shows which one it is, and we check it against your supply before touching a burner.

What should I do if I smell gas near my cooktop?

Turn off the gas at the shutoff valve, open windows, keep flames and switches away, and call your gas utility. Once the area is safe, we can inspect the cooktop's valves and fittings.

Why does my burner click without lighting?

Usually the igniter is dirty or wet, the cap is out of place, or a wire connection has loosened. We clean and test each of those on a Heritage Dual Cooktop before looking at the valve.
