What C0 means

C0 on a Dacor Modernist induction cooktop, such as the DTI30M977BB or DTI36M977BB, means the top sensor circuit reads open, as if the sensor wire were disconnected. The cooktop cannot read the temperature of the glass above the coil, so it displays C0 and limits or stops heating. On the DOP30T940IS range cooktop the code table lists top sensor open and short together next to C0.

Common causes of C0

  • Top sensor connection loose or broken
  • Sensor wiring damaged or pinched
  • The sensor itself open
  • The control board reading the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the cooktop off and restart it. 2. If C0 returns, disconnect power to the cooktop at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or more, then switch it back on. 3. If the code still appears, leave the cooktop off and schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • Whether the sensor circuit is open at the sensor, the wiring or the board
  • Whether the glass and sensor mounting are intact
  • Which part is needed before we quote the repair
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
C0C0 questions
Is C0 the same as C1?

No. On the Modernist DTI cooktops C0 is an open top sensor and C1 is a shorted one. They point to the same sensor but to opposite electrical conditions, so the repair path can differ.

Will turning the power off clear C0?

Sometimes a restart clears a one-time glitch. If the sensor circuit is truly open, the code returns as soon as the cooktop reads it again, and the cooktop needs testing.

Can you fix a Dacor induction cooktop that is out of warranty?

Yes, we repair these cooktops regardless of age. We give a written price before work begins and say plainly if a repair would not be worth it.
