Dacor DTI36M977BB Five-Zone Cooktop Repair
Most common issues on this model
- One zone that stops heating while the others work
- A sensor shutdown on a single zone
- Communication trouble between the main board and the display board
- Heavy supply demand on a 208-volt home
The Dacor DTI36M977BB is a Contemporary frameless induction cooktop, 36 inches wide, with an LCD display and five zones. The center zone offers 3,600 W and boosts to 4,800 W, while each of the four outer zones offers 1,800 W and boosts to 2,600 W. The circuit has to supply 45A at 240V or 50A at 208V.
With five zones, the most useful clue is which zone misbehaves. If one zone stops while four work, we look at that zone’s temperature sensor and its connection to the board. If the whole display goes dark or flickers, we look at the link between the main board and the display board, and at the supply. This cooktop draws a lot of current at full boost, so the circuit and breaker matter too.
Being a current model helps with parts. Even so, we use the number and serial printed on its label to choose exactly what to order. The price is shown to you in writing before the work begins, and a 30-day workmanship warranty applies to the finished repair.

Why does one zone on my induction cooktop stop heating?
A single zone that stops while the rest work usually points to that zone's sensor, coil or connection. We test it zone by zone and measure the supply before replacing anything.
How much power does the DTI36M977BB need?
The circuit has to give 45A at 240V or 50A at 208V. A smaller breaker or circuit can make the cooktop shut down at high power, so the supply is part of every service visit.
What does boost mean on the zones?
Boost is extra power for a short time, for example 4,800 W on the center zone instead of 3,600 W. If boost does not engage, we check the zone and its supply before the control board.
