DYRP36DS

Dacor DYRP36DS Discovery iQ Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Perma-Flame burner that clicks without lighting or goes out
  2. SimmerSear burner that will not hold a low flame
  3. Oven that does not reach set temperature
  4. Slide-in installation with a tight gas or power connection

The Dacor DYRP36DS is a 36-inch Discovery iQ slide-in dual-fuel range: gas burners above an electric oven of 5.2 cu. ft. One of the burners is an 18,000 BTU SimmerSear burner, and the cooktop uses the Perma-Flame system. It is also sold as DYRP36DSNG, DYRP36DSLP, and DYRP36D-C-S. Discovery iQ ranges are now older models still found in many homes.

Perma-Flame is the name of the cooktop’s burner system, and for service it tells us to concentrate on ignition and flame stability. If a burner clicks without lighting or goes out, we clean the burner and igniter and test the flame. A SimmerSear burner that will not hold a low flame needs a close look at the burner head and the gas flow. In the electric oven, we check the bake element and the sensor.

The NG and LP endings tell us which gas the range is set for, and we confirm that from the data label. Parts for older Discovery iQ ranges can be scarce, so we check before the repair.

DYRP36DSDYRP36DS questions
What is a SimmerSear burner?

It is the name of the 18,000 BTU burner on this range, which handles both searing and low simmering. If it will not hold a low flame, we clean and test the burner head and gas flow.

What do the NG and LP endings mean?

NG is natural gas and LP is liquid propane. The range must be set for the fuel it is connected to, and we check this from the label.

Is an older Discovery iQ worth repairing?

Often yes. Many Discovery iQ ranges are still cooking well, and ignition and oven parts are common repairs. We confirm parts first and say plainly if the cost is not worth it.
