What F0 means
On classic Dacor wall ovens and ranges with the ERC electronic control, -F0- means the control sees an input device that is shorted or jammed. The input device is usually a keypad button or the membrane switch behind the touch panel, or the wiring that leads to it. A key that is stuck on looks to the control as if it is being pressed all the time, so the control cannot trust any keypress. The ERC is used in the ERSD, PCS/D, RSD, RSE, RSG, MCS/D and ECS/D families.
Common causes of F0
- A keypad button or membrane switch that is stuck or shorted
- Wiring between the keypad and the ERC
- Moisture, grease or a spill beneath the touch panel
- The ERC itself misreading the keypad
1. Turn the oven off and let it cool completely. 2. Look over the control panel for a key that appears pressed in, or for a spill or cleaner that has seeped under the panel. 3. Wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth, keeping liquid away from the panel edges, and dry it. 4. If -F0- is still on the display, stop using the oven and call us.
- The code says an input is shorted or jammed but not which one, so a visual check cannot tell a stuck key from a damaged membrane or a wiring problem.
- We test the keypad and its connection to the ERC before any part is ordered.
- These older ovens are still in many homes and we repair them, but some parts are scarce, so we confirm parts before the repair and say plainly when a repair is not worth it.
Other Range codes
What does -F0- mean on my older Dacor oven?
It means the electronic control found an input device, usually a keypad button or membrane switch, that is shorted or jammed. The control cannot tell real keypresses from the stuck one, so it shows the code.
Can spilled cleaner cause F0?
It can, if liquid reaches the keypad or its wiring and makes a key read as pressed. That is why we dry the panel and check for moisture, though a worn membrane switch produces the same code.
Is it worth repairing an older ERC oven showing F0?
Often yes, since a keypad or wiring repair costs far less than a new oven. We confirm parts first, give you a written price before work, and tell you honestly if the repair is not worth it.
Still seeing F0?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
