What F1 means

Classic Dacor wall ovens and ranges with the ERC electronic control show -F1- as a watchdog alarm. The ERC monitors its own internal watchdog relay circuits, and when it detects a problem in them, it beeps and switches on a cancel feature. That feature stays active until you touch Cancel or select another function. The ERC appears in the ERSD, PCS/D, RSD, RSE, RSG, MCS/D and ECS/D families, many of them older ovens that are still in daily use.

Common causes of F1

A watchdog relay circuit on the ERC that is not responding correctly
A relay on the control that is sticking
Wiring or connections feeding the watchdog circuit
A one-time upset that clears when you cancel

✓ One safe check you can try

1. Touch Cancel to stop the beeping, or select another function. 2. Let the oven cool if it was in use. 3. Use the oven again once, watching whether -F1- returns. 4. If it comes back, stop using the oven and call us.

! Why to stop there

Touching Cancel quiets the alarm but cannot tell us whether the watchdog circuit has a lasting problem.
We look at the relays and the control board together, since the ERC checks itself and the problem could sit on either side.
Older ERC controls are not always easy to find, so we confirm the part is available before we quote the repair.

What is the F1 watchdog alarm on a Dacor ERC oven?

The control constantly checks its own watchdog relay circuits. If it finds a problem, it beeps, shows -F1-, and turns on a cancel feature. That feature remains until Cancel is touched or another function is chosen.

Does touching Cancel fix F1?

It silences the alarm and lets you use the control again, but the cause may remain. If -F1- returns the next time the oven is used, the circuit needs testing.
