SGM466
Dacor SGM466 46-Inch Gas Cooktop Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Burner switches that fail
- Igniters that crack
- Gas valves that turn stiffly
- Burners that do not light evenly
The Dacor SGM466 is a 46-inch Preference gas cooktop, the widest in the SGM series. It was sold as the SGM466S and SGM466B, and the SGM466BLP is the propane version of the black one. It is out of production.
A cooktop this wide has many switches and igniters, and some of them wear before the others. We often find that a burner which has stopped lighting has a failed switch or a cracked igniter, and both can be checked quickly. A stiff gas valve is something we treat carefully: we do not force it, and we test it with the gas on only after the surrounding parts are verified. If a flame is uneven, we clean the burner and check the cap.
At 46 inches, the SGM466 is a large cooktop, and many owners prefer to keep it than rework a countertop. We support that where it is reasonable and tell you honestly where it is not. Parts for it need confirming before we promise anything. The label holds the exact number we need. Pricing is quoted in writing first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows.

Error codes this model can show
What do the S, B and BLP suffixes mean?
S and B mark finishes, and LP marks propane, so the SGM466BLP is the black propane version. Parts depend on the suffix, so we read the full number from your label.
Why would an igniter crack?
Igniters can crack from heat, a knock or spills. A cracked one may spark weakly or not at all, so we inspect it closely whenever a burner does not light.
Is a 46-inch cooktop hard to replace?
It can be, because its cutout is not a standard size. That is one reason many owners keep and repair it. We tell you what the repair costs so you can decide.
