HGPR36
Dacor HGPR36 Dual-Stack Gas Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Dual-stack burner that does not simmer low
- Oven burner that is slow to ignite
- Convection fan that rattles or stops
- Self-clean lock that stays engaged
The Dacor HGPR36 is a Heritage Pro 36-inch gas range, with six dual-stack burners from 800 BTU up to 18,000 BTU and a 5.2 cubic foot self-cleaning oven with three-part convection. Versions HGPR36S/NG and HGPR36S/LP cover natural gas and liquid propane.
Six dual-stack burners make for a lot of small ports to keep clean. Boil-overs and grease get into them, and a burner that will not simmer low, or that lights with a ragged flame, often needs a patient cleaning before we replace any part. We also test the ignition at each burner. In the oven, the all-gas burner is lit by an igniter, so a slow start usually points to a weakened one, and the three-part convection fan is checked for noise.
The HGPR36 is a larger sibling of the HGPR30, so the data label tells us which parts to order. Parts are generally easier to find for a current model, but we confirm each one before the repair begins. The price is given in writing in advance, and the workmanship has a 30-day warranty. If you smell gas, get out of the house and call your gas utility.

How do you clean dual-stack burners?
We remove the caps, clear each small port with the right tool, and dry everything before testing the flame. Forcing the ports with the wrong tool can damage them, so we go carefully.
Why is the flame ragged on one burner?
Residue in the ports is the usual cause. After cleaning, if the flame is still uneven, we look at the gas flow and the burner head.
Is the HGPR36 serviceable if my oven is slow to light?
Yes. A weak igniter is a typical cause of slow lighting, and we test it along with the gas flow before replacing it. The part is quoted in writing first.
