In Dacor’s Discovery series, the EO227 is a double electric wall oven, 27 inches wide, that runs on a 240-volt supply. The Discovery family covers 27- and 30-inch wall ovens, and the number on your label tells us whether yours has a single or double cavity. Yours has two, which is why the EO227 shows up in older kitchens with a tall wall of cabinets.
Three features are named for this model: the Discovery Controller, pure convection and self-cleaning. The Discovery Controller is the part that decides what each oven does, so when a cavity ignores a setting or the display behaves oddly, the controller is where we start. What is the Discovery Controller on my EO227?
It runs the oven's functions and shows the settings, including convection and the clean cycle. If the display is dim, the oven ignores a setting or a cavity will not start, we test the controller and its connections.
Will you work on only one cavity?
Yes. We tell you which cavity has the problem, test it with the power off and quote that repair separately. The other oven can often stay in use.
Is a 240-volt feed important for service?
Yes. We check that both hot legs of the 240-volt feed reach the oven, because a missing leg can make an oven heat weakly or not at all even when the display lights up.
