What PRB means
On Dacor Millennia MCS and MCD wall ovens, such as the MCS130S or MCD227, the display flashes PRB and the oven beeps when the temperature probe is not inserted properly. The control is telling you that the probe connection is incomplete. The oven itself is not reporting a heating problem. Millennia is an older line that we service across Houston.
Common causes of PRB
- Probe plug not pushed all the way into the socket
- A worn probe plug or cable
- The socket inside the oven not making contact
1. Press CANCEL/SECURE if the oven keeps beeping. 2. Insert the probe properly, with the plug seated fully in the oven socket. 3. Check that the probe tip sits in the food and the cable is not caught by the door. 4. If PRB comes back with the probe seated, call us or use the online form to schedule service.
- If PRB repeats with a seated probe, we test the probe and the oven socket to see which one is losing contact.
- Some probes and sockets for older ovens are scarce, so we confirm parts before the repair.
- We give a written price before work and tell you if the repair is not worth it.

Why does my Millennia oven flash PRB?
The temperature probe is not inserted properly. The control cannot read it, so it flashes PRB and beeps until you seat the plug.
Does PRB stop the oven from baking?
PRB concerns the probe only. Cooking without the probe is possible, but a probe cooking mode will wait for a good connection before it continues.
Can an old probe cause PRB?
Yes. A worn plug or cable can lose contact. We test the probe and the socket, then price the repair in writing before we start.
Still unsure about PRB?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
