What C-20 means

A C-20 on a Dacor Transitional or Contemporary DOP range, such as the DOP48T960GS or DOP48C96DLS, or on the DOP30T940IS induction range, means the oven temperature sensor reads open or shorted while the oven is on. In plain words, the range cannot get a believable temperature from inside the oven. You see C-20 on the display, and the oven may stop heating or hold the wrong temperature. The DOP30T940IS lists both an open and a shorted sensor reading for this family of codes.

Common causes of C-20

  • The oven temperature sensor
  • The sensor wiring and plug connection
  • The oven control reading the sensor circuit
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the mode knob to Off and start the range again. 2. If C-20 returns, switch off the range's power at the breaker for at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on. 3. If the code still shows, stop using the oven and call us or fill out the online form to schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • The owner's manual stops at calling for service, so we test the sensor, its wiring and the control to find which one gives the bad reading.
  • You get a written price before work, and our repair is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty.
  • If the code clears but returns later, tell us how often it happens, because that helps us find the cause.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
C-20C-20 questions
What does C-20 mean on my Dacor range?

The oven temperature sensor reads as open or shorted while the oven is on. The control cannot trust the temperature, so the oven may not heat properly.

Will turning off the breaker clear C-20?

It may, because it restarts the control. If the sensor circuit itself is bad the code comes back, and then we test the circuit instead of resetting it again.

Is this the same on the induction range?

The DOP30T940IS shows C-20 for its oven sensor as well, and it separates open from shorted readings. The first owner steps are the same on both.
