What F6 means

Code F6 means the memory that stores the settings in the electronic oven control of a Dacor Epicure, Millennia or Preference wall oven failed a checksum test. The control compares the stored data against its check value, and when the two do not match it shows F6. After that, only the time of day and the timer keep working, and the oven will not heat. The oven beeps until you press CANCEL/SECURE. We repair these older ovens in Houston homes.

Common causes of F6

  • The memory in the electronic oven control
  • A power surge or interruption that damaged the stored data
  • The control board itself
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Clear the beeping with CANCEL/SECURE. 2. Check that the clock and timer still work. They should, and that tells us the display is alive. 3. Do not try to bake or clean, since the oven will not heat after this code. 4. Call us or use the online form to schedule service and give us your model number.

! Why to stop there
  • A checksum error can clear after a power interruption or return at once, and only a test of the control shows which one it is.
  • Replacement controls for older models can be hard to get, so we confirm parts before the repair.
  • You receive a written price before work, and we tell you if the oven is not worth the repair.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F6F6 questions
Why do only the clock and timer work on my Dacor oven?

With F6, the control cannot trust the data in its memory, so it limits itself to time of day and the timer. Heating and cooking functions stay off.

Will unplugging the oven clear F6?

We do not recommend trying. If the stored data is damaged, the code returns, and working near the oven's wiring is not safe for an owner. We test the control instead.

How long do older Dacor ovens last?

Many keep running for years with a sound control. We check yours, give a written price, and say plainly if a repair is not worth it.
