What C-70 means

Current Dacor steam wall ovens in the DOB30x977 and DOC30x977 families, the DOB30P977D among them, show C-70 when the steam sensor is open or shorted while the oven is operating. The control relies on that sensor for the steam side of cooking, and without a usable signal it displays the code and cannot carry on with steam. You will see C-70 on the screen.

Common causes of C-70

  • Wiring to the steam sensor that is broken or touching
  • A steam sensor that no longer reads
  • The board input that reads the steam sensor signal
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press OFF, give the oven a moment, then begin a cooking mode once more. 2. When C-70 comes back, cut the power to the oven at its breaker, leave it for 30 seconds or longer, and restore it. 3. Keep the door closed while the oven is off. 4. If the code still will not clear, give us a call.

! Why to stop there
  • Open and shorted readings call for different tests, so we measure the steam sensor circuit before any part is replaced.
  • Steam cooking and plain heat use different parts, and we check what still works before we quote.
  • Nothing is started until you have approved a price in writing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
C-70C-70 questions
What is C-70 on my Dacor steam oven?

The steam sensor is reporting an open or shorted circuit during use. With no good reading to work from, the control puts C-70 on the screen and steam cooking cannot continue.

Do I need to stop using the oven with C-70 showing?

Yes, until it has been checked. Try the restart steps from the owner's manual once. If C-70 comes back, do not keep starting steam cycles, and call us to look at it.

Will a new sensor fix C-70?

Possibly, but the wiring or the board input can cause the same code. We test the circuit first, so you pay only for the part that really needs replacing.
