What F3 means
An F3 on a Dacor classic wall oven with the electronic oven control (Epicure ECS and ECD, Millennia MCS and MCD, Preference PCS and PCD) means the control reads the oven temperature sensor as shorted. The control only tests the sensor when you try to cook, and it must see the shorted reading 16 times in a row before the code appears. You see F3 on the display and hear beeping until you press CANCEL/SECURE. The oven will not heat after this code. Epicure, Millennia and Preference ovens are older models still in many Houston homes, and we repair them.
Common causes of F3
- The oven temperature sensor itself
- The sensor wiring and plug connection
- The electronic oven control reading the sensor circuit
1. Silence the beeping with CANCEL/SECURE. 2. Let the oven cool completely and do not keep trying to start a bake cycle, because the owner's manual says the oven will not heat after this code. 3. Write down your model number, for example ECS130 or PCD230, so we can check parts before the visit. 4. Call us or fill out the online form to schedule service.
- A shorted reading can come from the sensor, its wiring or the control, so we test each one before replacing anything.
- Some parts for these older ovens are scarce, so we confirm the part before the repair.
- You get a written price before work starts, and we tell you plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Other Wall Oven codes
Why does my Dacor oven beep and show F3?
The oven control sees the temperature sensor as shorted. It beeps until you press CANCEL/SECURE, and the oven stays off for heating until the sensor circuit is repaired.
Can I keep baking if I clear F3?
No. Clearing the beeping only silences it. The oven will not heat after this code, so we test the sensor circuit rather than let you cook with a reading the control cannot trust.
Is it worth repairing an older Epicure or Millennia oven for F3?
Often yes, since a sensor repair is usually modest compared with a new built-in oven. We give a written price first, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Still seeing F3?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
