What C-31 means
Dacor DOB30 and DOC30 wall ovens in the current Modernist, Contemporary and Transitional lines, for example the DOB30P977S, display C-31 when the control board temperature climbs abnormally high. The electronics behind the display are running hotter than they should, so the oven raises the code to protect them. Cooking may stop while it is showing. The owner's manual simply lists calling for service.
Common causes of C-31
- Heat building up around the control board
- A cooling fan that is not moving enough air
- A board temperature sensor that is reading too high
1. Press OFF and let the oven cool with the door closed. 2. Check that nothing is stacked against the oven or covering the vents around it. 3. Do not open the oven housing or the control. 4. Do not keep trying to use the oven while C-31 shows. 5. Call us and give us the model number.
- High board heat can come from poor cooling or from a sensor that misreads, and the display does not separate the two.
- We check the cooling fan and the board sensor before deciding whether the board needs replacing.
- The price is in writing before we begin, and our repairs come with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Wall Oven codes
What does C-31 mean on a Dacor wall oven?
It means the control board temperature is abnormally high. The oven shows the code so the electronics are not left running hot, and cooking may stop until the oven is checked.
Can I restart the oven to clear C-31?
The owner's manual lists calling for service for this code, not a reset. Letting the oven cool is safe, but if C-31 returns we need to test the cooling and the board.
Is C-31 related to C-A2?
They can be. C-A2 is the cooling motor operating abnormally, and weak cooling can let board heat build up. We check both when we inspect the oven, and tell you what we find.

A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
