Dacor’s MCS230 is a 30-inch double electric wall oven in the Millennia line, with 3.9 and 4.4 cubic feet in its two self-cleaning convection ovens. It is also sold as the MCS230R. Of the Millennia double ovens in this group, it lists the roomiest cavities, which suits kitchens that cook for a crowd.

Two details stand out. The oven lighting is halogen, so a dark cavity can mean a burned-out bulb, but if a new bulb does not light, we check the socket and the wiring. The light in my MCS230 will not work with a new bulb. Why?

Halogen sockets can burn and loosen over time. We check the socket, the wiring and the switch, and we replace the socket if the bulb has no power.

My delayed start does not begin cooking. What do we test?

We check the clock and the control, since the oven has to hold the start time and then power the elements. A power outage can also clear the setting, so we ask about that.

Do the two ovens have different capacities?
