What F-4 means
F-4 on Dacor EDW and IDW 24-inch dishwashers from the older WPS platform refers to the drain pump. After the drain phase, the control still sees water in the tub, so it concludes that the pump did not empty it and shows F-4. Common causes of F-4

Why is water left after F-4?
The control expects the tub to be empty after the drain phase. If water remains, the pump did not remove it, or the drain line is blocked, and the dishwasher stops.

It can be. If the dishwasher drains through the disposal and that is clogged, the water cannot leave. We check the whole drain path from the pump to the sink.
Can I use the sink while water sits in the dishwasher?
