What F-7 means
On Dacor EDW and IDW 24-inch dishwashers with the older WPS platform, F-7 means the control has an EEPROM failure. The EEPROM is the small memory chip on the control board that holds the machine's stored settings, and the board can no longer read it correctly. You see F-7 in the display, and the dishwasher does not carry on with a normal cycle. These older dishwashers are still in many Houston homes, and we repair them.
Common causes of F-7
- Stored data on the control board that no longer reads correctly
- Board connections that have loosened or corroded
- A control board that needs replacing if the memory cannot be restored
1. Write down the code and the cycle you had selected. 2. Make sure the door is closed and latched all the way. 3. Look at the floor and the base of the dishwasher for water. If you see any, or smell something burning, switch the dishwasher breaker off. 4. Leave the panels closed and the dishwasher unused until we look at it. 5. Have the model number from the label ready when you call.
- The display alone does not show whether only the memory chip is affected or the whole control board, so we test the board before quoting.
- Some older control boards are scarce, so we confirm a part is available before the repair.
- If a repair is not worth the cost on your dishwasher, we tell you plainly and give you the written price first.

What does F-7 mean on my Dacor dishwasher?
It means the control reports an EEPROM failure, a problem reading the memory chip on its board. That is a control problem, not a clogged filter or a drain issue, so cleaning the tub will not clear it.
Can I keep using the dishwasher with F-7 showing?
We do not recommend it. The control is not reading its stored settings correctly, so cycles may not behave as selected. Leave it off, and watch for water around the base until we inspect it.
Is it worth fixing an older EDW or IDW dishwasher?
Often yes, but not always. We diagnose the control first, confirm the board is available, and give you a written price before any work. If replacing it makes no sense, we say so, and our repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Still seeing F-7?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
