What INSERT MEAT PROBE / REMOVE MEAT PROBE means
These two messages appear on Dacor Discovery wall ovens (the EO, MOH, MOV and PO lines, such as the PO230, EO130 or MOV130) when you cook with the meat probe. INSERT MEAT PROBE flashes when it is time to put the food in and connect the probe. REMOVE MEAT PROBE flashes if the probe was connected too early. Neither one is a breakdown. It is a prompt from the control. Discovery is an older line, and we repair it in Houston kitchens.
Common causes of INSERT MEAT PROBE / REMOVE MEAT PROBE
- Probe plugged in before the oven asked for it
- Probe not connected when the oven expects it
- A probe plug or socket that no longer makes contact
1. Read the flashing message and do what it says. 2. For INSERT MEAT PROBE, put the food in and plug the probe in firmly. 3. For REMOVE MEAT PROBE, unplug the probe and wait for the oven to prompt you. 4. If the message keeps flashing with the probe seated correctly, call us or use the online form to schedule service.
- If the message stays after you follow it, the probe, its socket or the control may not be sensing the plug.
- Probes and sockets for older ovens can be scarce, so we confirm parts before the repair.
- We give a written price before work and tell you if the repair is not worth it.

Why does my Dacor oven say REMOVE MEAT PROBE?
The probe was connected before the oven asked for it. Unplug it, then follow the display prompt when the oven calls for the probe later in the cycle.
Does INSERT MEAT PROBE mean something is broken?
No. It is the normal prompt that tells you it is time to put the food in and connect the probe. Follow the message and cooking continues.
What if the message will not go away?
Check that the probe plug is pushed in all the way. If it still flashes, we test the probe and the oven's connection to it.
