What F4 means
Code F4 on Dacor Epicure ECS/ECD, Millennia MCS/MCD and Preference PCS/PCD wall ovens tells you the control sees the oven temperature sensor as an open circuit, as if the sensor were disconnected. The control must read it that way 16 times in a row before it shows the code. The bake modes cannot start, the keypad may seem unresponsive, and the oven beeps until you press CANCEL/SECURE. These are older Dacor ovens that we still repair in Houston homes.
Common causes of F4
- A broken or unplugged connection at the oven temperature sensor
- A damaged sensor wire inside the oven
- The electronic oven control reading the sensor circuit
1. Tap CANCEL/SECURE to quiet the oven. 2. Switch the oven off and let it cool before you do anything else near it. 3. Do not expect the bake modes to start. The owner's manual says the oven will not heat after this code. 4. Note your model number from the label, such as MCS130S or MCD227, and call us or use the online form to schedule service.
- An open reading points to the sensor circuit, but the break can be at the sensor, in the wiring or at the control.
- Older parts for these ovens can be hard to find, so we confirm availability before we start.
- We give you a written price first and tell you if the oven is not worth repairing.
Other Wall Oven codes
Why won't my Dacor oven bake and why does it show F4?
The control sees an open circuit where the temperature sensor should be. With no usable reading, it will not start the bake modes, and the buttons may seem dead.
Does pressing CANCEL/SECURE fix F4?
It stops the beeping and clears the screen, but the oven still cannot heat until the sensor circuit is repaired. If the code comes straight back, the open reading is still there.
Do you work on older Millennia and Preference ovens?
Yes. We repair these older models, confirm parts before the repair, and back the work with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Still seeing F4?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
