MOV230
Dacor MOV230 Wall Oven Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Relay wear
- Latch motor stalling
- Cooling fan noise
- Upper versus lower cavity heat
The MOV230 is a 30-inch double wall oven from the Discovery MOV series. It is no longer sold, and the MOV230S is the same oven with a suffix. Double Discovery ovens come in 27- and 30-inch cutouts, so the width on your label matters when we match parts.
Cooling fans tend to get noisy on ovens of this age, and noise is often the first thing that brings a call. Relays wear next, which can leave a cavity without heat. A latch motor that stalls leaves a door locked after a clean. We test each, and with two self-cleaning cavities we repeat the tests on the second oven.
Because Discovery is an older line, some parts are scarce. We read the model and serial off the label, check availability and then present a price in writing. Repairs are covered for 30 days.

Error codes this model can show
My MOV230 makes a whirring noise after cooking. Is that normal?
A cooling fan running after use is normal, but grinding or loud buzzing is not. We check the fan bearing and mount, and replace the fan if it is worn.
What is a latch motor?
It is the small motor that locks and unlocks the door for self-clean. If it stalls, the door can stay locked. We test the motor and its switch, then replace the part that failed.
Why does my upper oven bake well but the lower one does not?
Each cavity has its own relay and element, so the lower side may have a worn relay or element. We test both, then the sensor.
