Dacor HGPR48 Two-Oven Gas Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Smaller left oven that is slow to light
  2. Right oven that does not hold temperature
  3. Burner that clicks without lighting
  4. Door or hinge wear on a heavy oven door

The Dacor HGPR48 is a 48-inch Heritage Pro all-gas range with two ovens, a 2.8 cubic foot oven on the left and a 5.2 cubic foot oven on the right. Six burners are rated at 15,000 and 18,000 BTU. Natural gas ranges carry HGPR48S/NG numbers and propane ranges HGPR48S/LP, and a 120V, 15A supply is enough.

Two gas ovens mean two igniters and two sets of gas valves, and each one fails on its own. First we find out which oven is acting up. We compare the two: if the left oven is slow to light and the right is fine, that points to the left igniter or its gas path. Heavy oven doors on a range of this size can wear hinges and seals, so we check those before blaming the heating. The cooktop gets a burner-by-burner test and cleaning.

A range this large is heavy and built in, so we plan access ahead. The data label tells the HGPR48 from the HGPR48S. We confirm parts before repair, quote in writing, and cover our workmanship for 30 days. A smell of gas means leaving the house and calling your gas utility from outside.

HGPR48HGPR48 questions
Why does only one oven light slowly?

Each oven has its own igniter and gas path. A slow oven usually means that oven's igniter has weakened. We test both ovens and fix the one that needs it.

Does this range need a 240V circuit?

No. It uses a 120V, 15A supply for the igniters and controls, and gas does the heating. That keeps the electrical checks on this range quick.

Is the HGPR48 harder to repair because it is large?

It takes more planning, mainly for access, but the repairs are the same as on smaller models. We pull it out carefully to reach connections.
