How to Read the Model Label on a Dacor Range

Finding and reading the label on your Dacor range can save a second service visit. Here is where the label hides and what each line on it tells us.

The label on a Dacor range tells us which line and generation you own, and that decides which parts fit. A clear photo of it, sent before the visit, often saves a second trip. Here is where to look and what to write down.

Where the Label Usually Sits

On freestanding and slide-in ranges, check the frame behind the oven door, or the edge of the oven opening once the door is open. On some units the label is inside the storage drawer or behind the lower kick panel. Rangetops often carry it on the underside, which means a look from inside the cabinet below. Turn the power off at the breaker, and close the gas valve to the range, if you need to move the unit.

What to Write Down

  • The complete model number, exactly as printed.
  • The serial number.
  • Whether the unit is gas, dual fuel or electric.
  • The width, such as 30 or 48 inches.

What the Label Cannot Tell You

The label gives identification, not condition. It does not say whether a part is still available for a unit that is 15 or 20 years old, and it does not explain a problem on its own. We read it, then test the range to find what is wrong.

If the Label Is Gone or Unreadable

Heat and years of cleaning rub labels away. Send us photos of the range from the front, the burner layout and the control knobs, plus any numbers you can still read. Many older units can be matched from a good set of photos, though we will tell you if a part order has to wait until we see the unit in person.

The same steps apply to ovens and cooktops. You can find more on our Dacor range repair page.

To set up a repair, give us a call or send the online form, and we will confirm a three-hour arrival window.

Tell us the model and the code. We will bring the part.
