What C-21 means
On the current Dacor Modernist, Contemporary and Transitional wall ovens, such as the DOB30M977S, DOB30P977S and DOC30M977D, C-21 means the oven has detected an abnormally high internal temperature. The control shows the code to warn you that the cavity is hotter than it should be. Treat it as a heat warning, and do not keep cooking until the oven has cooled and been checked. You see C-21 on the display, and the oven stops heating.
Common causes of C-21
- A temperature sensor that is reading wrong, so the control misjudges the heat
- A heating circuit that stays on longer than the control commands
- Cooling that is not keeping the oven's electronics in range
1. Press OFF, keep the door closed, and let the oven cool completely. 2. Restart the oven from the control. 3. If C-21 returns, shut off power at the breaker for at least 30 seconds, then switch it back on. 4. If the problem persists, stop using the oven and call us.
- The code says the heat was too high, not why, so we test the sensor and the heating circuit separately.
- A sensor that reads too high and a heater that stays on too long look the same on the display.
- You get a written price before work, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
Other Wall Oven codes
What does C-21 mean on my wall oven?
It means abnormally high internal temperature. The oven control found more heat than it should have, and it shows the code to protect the oven and your kitchen.
Is it safe to restart the oven after C-21?
Let it cool completely first. One restart is what the owner's manual lists. If C-21 returns, keep the oven off and call us rather than trying again.
Could C-21 be a sensor problem rather than real overheating?
Yes, a sensor reading wrong can trigger it. But we do not assume that, so we test both the sensor and the heating circuit before saying which one needs repair.
Still seeing C-21?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
