What C-20 means
On the current Dacor Modernist, Contemporary and Transitional wall ovens, including the DOB30M977S, DOB30M977D and DOC30M977D, C-20 means the oven sensor is open, or shorted on the second line, while the oven operates. The oven sensor is how the control knows the cavity temperature, so without a good reading the oven shows C-20 and cannot control its heat safely. The oven will not carry on with the bake or roast until the problem is found.
Common causes of C-20
- Oven sensor wiring that is broken or shorted
- An oven sensor that no longer reads correctly
- A connector or control board input that is not passing the signal
1. Press OFF and let the oven restart. 2. If C-20 still shows, turn the oven off at the breaker and leave it off for at least 30 seconds. 3. Switch the breaker back on and try the oven again. 4. If the problem persists, do not keep trying. Call us.
- An open and a short need different tests, so we measure the sensor circuit rather than guess from the code.
- Without a trusted temperature reading we do not recommend baking in the oven until it is checked.
- We give a written price first, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Wall Oven codes
What causes code C-20 on my Dacor wall oven?
The oven sensor circuit is open, or shorted, while the oven is operating. The control loses its temperature reading and shows C-20 on the display instead of carrying on with the bake.
Can I still bake with C-20?
We advise against it. The oven cannot read its own temperature properly, so results and safety margins are unreliable. Try the restart steps once, then call us.
Is C-20 the same as an overheating alarm?
No. C-20 is about the sensor circuit, not about measured heat. A different code, C-21, covers abnormally high internal temperature, and we separate the two when we test.
Still seeing C-20?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
