What F-9 means

On Dacor EDW and IDW 24-inch dishwashers with the older WPS platform, F-9 means the control has a problem with its WPS sensor. The control checks this sensor as part of running a cycle, and the reading it gets is not one it accepts. The owner's manual does not explain this code beyond the sensor name, so we find the cause by testing. The display shows F-9. These older dishwashers are still in many Houston homes, and we repair them.

Common causes of F-9

  • Wiring or a connector at the WPS sensor that has loosened
  • The WPS sensor itself
  • The input on the control board that reads the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Write down the code and when it appeared in the cycle. 2. Check that the door is closed and latched properly. 3. Look at the base of the dishwasher for water, and wipe up any you find. 4. Switch the dishwasher breaker off if the floor is wet. 5. Leave the panels closed and call us with the model number from the label.

! Why to stop there
  • The code names the sensor circuit, not the part that broke, so we test the sensor and its wiring before replacing anything.
  • If the sensor tests good, the reading problem may sit on the control board, and we explain that before you decide.
  • Older sensors and boards can be scarce, so we confirm availability and give a written price first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F-9F-9 questions
What is the WPS sensor on my Dacor dishwasher?

It is the sensor this older platform names WPS, and the control reads it during a cycle. F-9 means that reading is not acceptable. We test the sensor, its wiring and the board input to find which one is causing the code.

Will F-9 clear if I restart the dishwasher?

Possibly for a moment, but the owner's manual lists no reset for F-9, and we do not guess at one. If the code comes back, the sensor circuit needs testing.

Is F-9 a leak warning?

The code itself reports a sensor problem, not a leak. Still, check the floor around the dishwasher. If you find water, switch the breaker off and tell us when you call.
