What A2 means
An A2 on a Dacor Modernist induction cooktop such as the DTI30M977BB, or on the DOP30T940IS induction range cooktop, points to the cooling fan. On the DTI cooktops the DC fan motor cannot run because of a problem on the circuit board or in the wiring, or because debris is jamming the fan blade. On the DOP30T940IS the DC fan motor reads as open or locked. The cooktop shows the code and may stop heating to protect the electronics.
Common causes of A2
- Something touching or blocking the fan blade
- Wiring to the fan motor loose or damaged
- The fan motor itself open or seized
- The control board that drives the fan
1. Turn every cook zone off and let the cooktop sit until it is cool to the touch. 2. Clear anything stored under or beside the cooktop that could crowd the vents. 3. Restart the cooktop. 4. If A2 comes back, stop using it and schedule service. Do not remove any panels yourself.
- Whether the fan turns freely or is held up by debris or a worn bearing
- Whether the wiring and connectors to the fan are sound before we blame the board
- Which fan or board part your cooktop needs, which we confirm before quoting

What does A2 mean on my Dacor cooktop?
It refers to the cooling fan. The fan motor is not running the way the control expects, either from a wiring or board problem, a blocked blade, or a motor that is open or locked.
Can I keep cooking with A2 showing?
We advise against it. The fan keeps the electronics from overheating, so a cooktop that cannot cool itself can shut down mid-cook or be damaged further. Restart once, and if the code returns, schedule service.
Do you repair this cooktop?
