What C-31 means
Owners of the DOP48T960GS, the DOP48C96DLS or the DOP30T940IS induction range who see C-31 are told that the temperature of the control board is unusually high. The control is overheating and protects itself, so the oven may shut down until things cool. You see C-31 on the display. The owner's manual lists only one step for this code, which is to call for service.
Common causes of C-31
- Heat building up around the control board
- A cooling fan or airflow problem inside the range
- The control board or its temperature sensor
1. Turn the oven and the cooktop off. 2. Give the range a good while to cool and keep the kitchen ventilated. 3. Do not keep restarting the range, because the control may be too hot to run safely. 4. If you ever notice a gas smell, get everyone outside and phone the gas utility from there. 5. Request a visit by calling us.
- We check whether the board really runs hot or the sensor reports a false high, because each case needs a different repair.
- If heat is real, we look at the cooling system and airflow around the board.
- Before we touch the range you see the cost in writing, and we stand behind the work for 30 days.
Other Range codes
Why is my Dacor range showing C-31?
The control board temperature is unusually high. The control shuts things down to protect itself, which is why the oven may stop until the range cools.
Is it safe to use the range after C-31?
We suggest waiting. Shut the range down, give it time to cool and call us if C-31 returns. A board that runs hot can fail early.
Could the cooling fan be involved?
Yes, it can be. C-A2 is the separate cooling motor code, and we check airflow and the fan when we find C-31.
Still seeing C-31?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
