Dacor DOP30T940I Induction Range Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Induction zone that stops heating or shuts off mid-cook
  2. Cooktop cooling fan noise or a fan that stops
  3. Communication between the cooktop and oven controls
  4. Convection fan sounds in the oven

The Dacor DOP30T940I is a Transitional induction range, 30 inches wide. Its cooktop has four induction zones: the largest measures 11 inches and delivers 2,400 W, rising to 4,300 W on boost, two 7-inch zones can sync, and a 6-inch zone rounds it out. The oven is a 6.3 cu. ft. convection cavity with Dual Four-Part Pure Convection, and the circuit is 240V, 40A.

Induction changes what we look for. There is no flame to see, so a zone that will not heat may be a cookware issue, a power-electronics problem, or a cooling problem. The electronics under an induction cooktop need airflow, which makes the cooling fan one of the first parts we check when a zone shuts off in the middle of cooking. We also test whether the cooktop and the oven controls are communicating, since they are separate systems in one range.

Pans need to be magnetic to work, and we look at that before we diagnose anything else. We take the model and serial from the data label before any part is ordered.

DOP30T940IDOP30T940I questions
My induction zone shuts off in the middle of cooking. Why?

Overheating protection is a common reason, and the cooling fan is part of that. We check the fan, the airflow, and the cooktop electronics, and we test the pan too, since induction needs magnetic cookware.

What does the sync feature on the two 7-inch zones do?

It lets the two 7-inch zones work together for larger cookware. If they do not sync, we test each zone on its own and then the control that joins them.

Does the cooktop need special pans?

Induction zones need magnetic cookware, and size matters too, since a pan far smaller than the zone may not be detected. If a zone will not start with a known magnetic pan, we begin testing the cooktop itself.
