Dacor RNCT365G Knob-Control Gas Cooktop Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. An igniter that does not spark
  2. A burner valve that turns stiffly
  3. Staining on the top surface
  4. Burner caps that do not seat

The Dacor RNCT365G is a Renaissance gas cooktop, 36 inches wide, whose sealed burners are controlled by knobs. A 30-inch version, the RNCT304G, belongs to the same family. Dacor no longer sells the cooktop, but many are still in daily use.

Knob-controlled burners are mechanical in the way that matters to us: each knob turns a valve, and the igniter sparks as the knob is turned. When a burner fails to light, we can follow that path from the knob to the igniter and find the break. We check the igniter, the cap and base, and the valve in turn. Staining on the top surface is something we look at because spills that get under a burner can foul its ports.

We treat the RNCT365G as a cooktop worth repairing when the fix is small, and we recommend against it when it is not. Parts take some effort to find, and we do that before you commit. What we order depends on the number and serial on the label. The quote comes in writing first, and the repair has our 30-day workmanship warranty.

RNCT365GRNCT365G questions
Why does one burner not spark when I turn the knob?

On a knob-controlled cooktop, the knob closes a switch that fires the igniter. A dirty igniter, a failed switch or a loose wire can stop it. We trace it from the knob to the burner.

What is the RNCT304G?

It is the 30-inch cooktop in the same Renaissance gas family. Because the size differs, parts do not always match, so your label's exact number decides what we order.

Can spills damage the burner ports?

Yes. Food in the ports can make a flame uneven or keep a burner from lighting. Cleaning them is part of our check, and we can show you how to keep them clear.
