HRTP486
Dacor HRTP486 48-Inch Pro Rangetop Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Igniters that wear and miss
- A burner switch that sticks
- A flame that burns too high after a move to LP
- Burners that light unevenly
The Dacor HRTP486 is a 48-inch Pro gas rangetop in the Heritage Pro styling, no longer produced. It was sold as the HRTP486SNG for natural gas and the HRTP486SLP for LP. At 48 inches it has the widest cooking surface in this family, with plenty of burners to keep in tune.
Many calls on a rangetop this large begin with one burner that is out of step with the others. We compare flames, then clean the burner and check its igniter and switch. A switch that sticks is tested for how it travels and returns. If the gas supply was changed, as when a home moves from natural gas to LP, we look closely at the flame, because a rangetop built for one gas burns too high on the other until it is converted.
The HRTP486 is a rangetop worth keeping when the repair is a small one. Parts for it take effort to find, so we confirm them before a repair begins. We read the model and serial from the label. You receive an estimate in writing, and our 30-day workmanship warranty applies to the work.

Error codes this model can show
Why is my flame too high after switching to LP?
A rangetop built for natural gas burns too high on LP unless it is converted. We confirm which version you have and check whether the burners match the gas your home uses.
What is the difference between the SNG and SLP versions?
The HRTP486SNG is built for natural gas and the HRTP486SLP is built for LP. They are not set up the same way, so we read the suffix on your label before we adjust anything.
A burner switch sticks on my rangetop. Is it dangerous?
A switch that sticks may leave a burner on or fail to turn it off cleanly. Turn the gas supply off if a burner will not shut off, and call us so we can test the switch.
