Dacor ER36G Epicure Gas Range Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Gas oven that lights slowly or not at all
  2. Burner that clicks without lighting
  3. Flame that looks tall or weak for the fuel in use
  4. Oven temperature that drifts from the setting

The Dacor ER36G is an out-of-production Epicure gas range, 36 inches wide, sold as the ER36GSCH and ER36GISCH. Cooktop and oven both burn gas, and the range came in natural gas, LP, and high-altitude versions.

An all-gas oven is lit by an igniter that glows hot enough to open the gas valve, and when the igniter gets old, it takes longer to glow and the oven is slow to light. That is the first thing we test on an ER36G. If the oven lights but the temperature wanders, we check the oven sensor and the control. On top, burners that click without lighting are cleaned and tested, and flames that look wrong make us check the fuel setup against what is connected.

Owners of older ranges tend to ask whether a repair is worth the money. For an ER36G, ignition parts are often straightforward, but we confirm availability first and tell you if a scarce part changes the answer. The label tells us which version you have.

ER36GER36G questions
Why is my ER36G oven slow to light?

A weakening igniter is the usual reason. It takes longer to heat enough to open the gas valve. Igniter and gas flow are both tested first.

What are the ER36GSCH and ER36GISCH?

They are versions of the same 36-inch Epicure gas range, with some differences in parts. The label on your range tells us which igniter, valve, or burner part is the right one.

Is the flame color important?

Yes. A flame that looks tall, weak, or yellow can mean the setup does not match your gas supply, and no new part will fix that. We check the setup before replacing parts.
