What C-23 means

Dacor shows C-23 on the DOP48T960GS and DOP48C96DLS ranges and on the DOP30T940IS induction range, and it means the temperature probe sensor reads shorted while the oven is on. The control sees a probe circuit that is closed where it should not be. You see C-23 on the display, and probe cooking may not work. It is a sensor-circuit reading, not a sign that the oven burner or element is broken.

Common causes of C-23

  • The meat probe or its cable
  • The probe socket inside the oven
  • The control reading the probe circuit
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Unplug the probe from the oven socket if it is connected. 2. Move the mode knob to Off, then restart the range. 3. If C-23 returns, shut off the breaker for the range for at least 30 seconds and restore it. 4. If it persists, contact us through the online form to arrange a visit.

! Why to stop there
  • A shorted probe reading can come from the probe, the socket or the control, so we test each one before we replace anything.
  • If the oven bakes normally without the probe, tell us when you book, because that helps narrow the cause.
  • The price is written down and agreed before we pick up a tool, and workmanship is warranted for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
C-23C-23 questions
Why does my Dacor range show C-23?

The control reads the temperature probe circuit as shorted while the oven is on. That points to the probe, its socket or the circuit that reads them.

Does C-23 mean the oven will not bake?

Not necessarily. The code concerns the probe sensor, so baking without the probe may still work. If the oven acts oddly too, stop and let us check it.

Should I replace the probe myself?

You can try a different probe if you have one. If C-23 stays, the socket or control is more likely, and we test those.
