Dacor HRTP366 Pro Gas Rangetop Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Burners that are slow to ignite or do not ignite
  2. Knobs and valves that wear or stick
  3. Discolored heat shields
  4. A flame that differs between the gas versions

The Dacor HRTP366 is a 36-inch Pro gas rangetop. It is sold under suffixes that tell you its gas: HRTP366SNG for natural gas, HRTP366SLP for LP, and a version marked H for high altitude. It is a discontinued model, though many are still cooking in homes.

A Pro rangetop sits in a countertop opening with its burners right at the front, so heat and grease reach the knobs and valves more than they do on a cooktop. For that reason we spend time on the valves, checking that each one turns freely and returns to off. The igniters and caps follow. Discolored heat shields are a result of heat and are usually not a concern, but we check that nothing is making the heat worse.

Parts for the HRTP366 can be scarce, so we confirm what exists before agreeing to a repair. The suffix on your label tells us the gas version. Our price is stated in writing first, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.

HRTP366HRTP366 questions
What does the SNG, SLP or H suffix mean?

SNG marks natural gas, SLP marks LP and H marks a high-altitude version. We read the suffix from your label so we set up and order parts for the right version.

Why are the knobs on my rangetop stiff?

Heat and grease near the front of a rangetop can stiffen the valve or the knob. We check the valve's travel and clean or replace what is binding rather than forcing the knob.

Is a discolored heat shield a problem?

Normally it is cosmetic. We look at it as part of the visit to be sure the burners are seated properly and nothing is overheating, then tell you whether it needs attention.
