What F7 means

Classic Dacor wall ovens and ranges with the ERC electronic control display -F7- when the door lock is enabled above temperature. The control found a problem in its clean-lock circuit and kept seeing it for 16 seconds in a row, so it beeps. In plain terms, the control cannot be sure the door lock is in the right state for the oven temperature. The ERC appears in the ERSD, PCS/D, RSD, RSE, RSG, MCS/D and ECS/D families.

Common causes of F7

  • A door lock switch that is not reporting its position correctly
  • Door lock switch adjustment
  • Wiring from the lock switches to the ERC
  • The ERC clean-lock circuit
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Touch Cancel to quiet the beeping. 2. Let the oven cool completely before touching the door. 3. Check that nothing is caught in the door or keeping it from closing. 4. Do not try another clean cycle until we have looked at the door lock, and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The alarm is about the lock circuit, not about one part; the switches, their adjustment and the wiring all need to be checked.
  • We check the door lock switches and their adjustment first, since a switch slightly out of place can set this alarm.
  • We repair these older ovens and confirm parts before the repair; you receive a written price before any work.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F7F7 questions
What does -F7- mean on a Dacor ERC oven?

It means the clean-lock circuit had a problem for 16 seconds in a row, so the control cannot be sure the door lock is correct for the oven temperature. The control beeps to tell you.

Is F7 dangerous?

It is a protective alarm. Let the oven cool and avoid clean cycles until the lock is checked, because the control is telling you the lock state does not match the oven temperature.

What do you check for F7?

We check the door lock switches and their adjustment, then the wiring and the control. The repair is quoted in writing first and carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
