Dacor Warming Drawer Not Keeping Food Warm

A warming drawer that stays lukewarm is often a small, fixable problem. Here are the common causes and what we check on older Dacor drawers.

Food that sits in a warming drawer should stay hot enough to serve, not just lukewarm. The usual suspects are the heating element, the temperature sensor and a drawer that sits slightly open. You can sort through them in this order.

Keep a note of what you were warming and for how long. Food that dries out quickly, or a pan that is only warm at the front, helps us decide whether the problem is heat or airflow.

Start With the Drawer Itself

  • Push the drawer fully closed and listen for the catch.
  • Check that no pan handle sticks out.
  • Look for spills that may have fallen into the track.
  • Confirm the control is set to a temperature, not to a mode that only turns on a light.

Test With a Thermometer

Put an oven-safe thermometer in a pan at the center. Set the control, wait the full preheat, and read it. This tells us whether the drawer is warming slowly or not warming at all.

What Slow Warming Can Mean

A weak element, a sensor reading wrongly or a worn gasket can all cause slow warming. From the outside they look the same, so we test each of them.

What a No-Heat Drawer Can Mean

If there is no warmth at all, the control, the element or the wiring may be the cause. A lit display does not prove power is reaching the element.

Houston Kitchens

Humidity and cooking grease can build up around the connectors and the track. Wiping the interior with a mild cleaner when it is cool helps, but we do not recommend opening the back panel yourself.

If your drawer is older and a part is hard to find, we say so before any work. Details are on our warming drawer repair page.

If the steps above did not solve it, call us or book a visit through the online form.

Tell us the model and the code. We will bring the part.
