An outdoor grill lives with humidity, rain and heat swings, and Houston gives all three. A short spring check keeps a Dacor grill dependable and spots problems early.
Do this check when the grill is cool and the tank or supply is closed. Take photos as you go, because they help us if a part needs replacing, and we can match it faster from a clear picture.
Inspect the Burners
Lift off the grates and inspect each burner port. Clear spider webs and debris with a soft brush. Insects often nest in burner tubes after a quiet winter.
Test the Igniter
Press the igniter in a dim spot and look for a spark. A weak or missing spark can be a dead battery, a corroded connection or a damaged electrode.
Check Hoses and Fittings With Soapy Water
- Mix dish soap and water.
- Brush it on the hose and fittings with the gas on and the burners off.
- Look for growing bubbles.
Bubbles mean a leak. Turn the gas off. Repairs to the gas line go to a licensed plumber, and we will tell you when the job is theirs.
Protect the Finish
Wipe stainless surfaces with a mild cleaner and dry them. A fitted cover helps, but make sure the grill is cool and dry first, since trapped moisture speeds up rust.
Check the Electrical Side
If your grill has lights or a rotisserie, make sure the outlet is protected. Outdoor GFCI and circuit problems go to an electrician.
If Your Grill Is Older
