Dacor DMW2420 Sensor Microwave Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. A door that does not open with the one-touch release
  2. A two-line display that goes blank or garbled
  3. Sensor cooking that stops early or never ends
  4. A cavity that stays cold

The Dacor DMW2420 is a 24-inch built-in microwave with sensor cooking, a one-touch door open and a two-line display. It needs a 120V, 15A supply. The DMW2420S is the stainless version and the DMW2420B is black.

Three features give us specific places to look. The one-touch door release is a mechanical latch, so a door that will not open points to the latch or its button. The two-line display shows what the microwave is doing, so a blank or garbled display means we look at the control and its connection before the heating parts. Sensor cooking relies on a sensor, so a program that stops early or never ends sends us to the sensor and the door.

We repair this older microwave and tell you plainly when the cost is not justified. We check parts before we start, because they take effort to find. The label gives the number and the finish. We put the price in writing before work, and our 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.

DMW2420DMW2420 questions
Why does the door not open with the button?

The one-touch release is a latch mechanism. If the button does not open the door, the latch, its spring or the button itself may be worn or stuck. We test and replace what has failed.

My display is blank but the light comes on. Why?

A blank display with a working light often means a control or connection problem and not a failed microwave. We check the supply, the connection and the control before ordering parts.

What is sensor cooking?

A sensor in the microwave adjusts the cooking. If a sensor program stops early or never finishes, we test the sensor and the door switches.
