What OFF means

A flashing OFF in the temperature display of a Dacor built-in French door refrigerator from the DRF36 series means Cooling Off mode, also known as Shop mode. In this mode the compressors do not run, so the refrigerator and freezer sections slowly warm up even though the unit has power. It is a mode setting for showrooms and is not a sensor or cooling system problem. Many of these built-in refrigerators are now several years old, and we service them.

Why is OFF flashing on my Dacor French door refrigerator?

The temperature display flashes OFF when Cooling Off mode is on. The compressors do not run in this mode, so the cabinet is not being cooled even though the lights and display may work.

How do I exit Shop mode?

Hold the Ice Maker, Filter Reset and Override keys together for 5 seconds. The flashing OFF should stop, and the compressors should start cooling the cabinet soon after.

What if the refrigerator is warm after I exit the mode?

Give it a few hours to cool and keep perishables in another refrigerator. If it does not cool, we check the compressors and control, and quote the repair in writing first.
