What Flashing temperature means
On Dacor HWC241 and HWC242 undercounter wine cellars, a flashing temperature display with an alarm sound means the temperature inside has moved outside the range you set. This is different from the door alarm: if the alarm sounds but the display is not flashing, the door has been open more than 60 seconds, or the gasket or shelves are keeping it from sealing. Both alarms protect your wine, so they are worth a quick look.
Common causes of Flashing temperature
- The door was left open or is not sealing, letting warm air in
- A dirty or worn door gasket
- Shelves that are not seated and keep the door from closing
- The cellar is not cooling to its set temperature
1. Close the door firmly and make sure nothing keeps it from sealing. 2. Touch the POWER key to silence the alarm. 3. Clean the door gasket and re-seat the shelves. 4. If the temperature display keeps flashing, call us.
- Closing the door and cleaning the gasket answers the door alarm, but a flashing display that returns means the cellar cannot hold its set range.
- We check the door seal, then the cooling and temperature sensing, to learn why the temperature drifts.
- Your wine should not wait on a guess, so we give a written price before work and a 30-day workmanship warranty after.

Why is the temperature flashing on my Dacor wine cellar?
The temperature in the cellar has moved outside the range you set, so the alarm sounds and the display flashes. A door left open, a dirty gasket or poorly seated shelves are common first checks.
How do I tell this alarm from the door alarm?
If the alarm sounds with the display flashing, the temperature is out of range. If it sounds with the display steady, the door has been open more than 60 seconds or is not sealing.
How do I stop the alarm?
Close the door, then touch the POWER key to silence it. Clean the gasket and re-seat the shelves, then watch the display. If it flashes again, we test the cooling and quote in writing.
