OB36
Dacor OB36 Built-In Gas Grill Repair
Most common issues on this model
- A burner that sparks at the igniter without catching
- A rotisserie motor that will not turn or stalls partway
- A weak or yellow flame on one burner
- Lights or knob lighting that no longer works
The Dacor OB36 is a stainless steel built-in gas grill, 36 inches wide, with three U-shaped burners at 20,000 BTU apiece, an infrared rotisserie burner, halogen lighting and lit burner knobs. Propane grills carry /LP in the number and natural gas grills carry /NG, and /H versions of both exist.
The fuel is set when the grill is built and stamped on its rating plate, so before we do anything we find out which one you have. Then we deal with what you describe. A burner that clicks yet never catches points to the igniter, the burner ports or the gas flow. A rotisserie motor that will not turn, or stalls halfway through a cook, we test under load. A weak or yellow flame on one burner while the others burn blue is almost always a blocked burner.
Outdoor grills are no longer made by Dacor, so we repair the OB36 where we can. Parts are not easy to find, and we check that first. The rating plate gives the number and the fuel. You will have the quote in writing, and our 30-day workmanship warranty applies once the grill is cooking again.
Key features
- 36-inch built-in gas grill
- Three U-shaped burners, 20,000 BTU apiece
- Infrared rotisserie burner, halogen lighting and lit burner knobs
- Stainless steel, sold for LP (OB36/LP) and natural gas (OB36/NG)
How do I know if my OB36 is natural gas or propane?
The rating plate shows the fuel, and the model suffix carries /NG or /LP. We check both against your gas supply before adjusting a burner, because a grill built for one fuel cannot simply be switched to the other.
Why does my rotisserie motor stall?
A weak motor, a worn connection or an unbalanced load can stall it. To tell which, we test the motor with and without weight and check the wiring.
Why is one burner flame yellow?
A clogged burner tube or port, often from grease or debris, is the usual cause. We clean it and check the flame again, because a yellow flame is worth fixing before the next cookout.
