Dacor MRV48S Downdraft Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Vent that does not raise fully
  2. Heavy grease on the filters of a wide vent
  3. Carbon filter that has gone past its change interval
  4. Switch or lift motor that responds slowly

The Dacor MRV48S is the 48-inch member of the Millennia downdraft family, and electric. It sits behind a large range or cooktop and raises when you cook. The family also includes the MRV3015S, MRV3615S, and the MRV48-ERS version.

A 48-inch vent catches a lot of grease, so filter care is a bigger part of the picture here. The metal grease filters are meant to be cleaned about every 8 to 10 weeks, and the carbon filter replaced in the 3 to 12 month range. We ask how long it has been since either was done, because heavy buildup can make a perfectly good blower seem weak and can make the lift work harder.

If the vent does not raise fully, we test the switch and the lift motor and look for debris in the guides. The data label gives us the model and serial before we order anything. Parts for older units can be scarce, and we say so first. A written price comes ahead of the work, and workmanship is warranted for 30 days.

MRV48SMRV48S questions
Why does my wide downdraft seem to fill with grease quickly?

It covers a large cooking surface, so it catches more grease. Washing the metal filters about every 8 to 10 weeks helps, and replacing the carbon filter on schedule keeps odors down.

What should I check before calling about a vent that will not raise fully?

Make sure nothing is on or against the vent area and that the unit has power. If it still stops short, call us and we will test the switch and lift motor.

Do you repair the MRV48S?

Yes. We tell you if a part is scarce and put the price in writing first, then test the switch, lift, filters, and blower in turn.
