Dacor EHR48 Epicure Wall-Mount Hood Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Halogen lights that flicker or keep burning out
  2. Light socket or switch that has browned from heat
  3. Blower speeds that do not change when selected
  4. Grease filters loaded with residue that slows airflow

The Dacor EHR48 is an electric wall-mount hood, 48 inches wide, from Dacor’s Epicure line. It is an older hood that still hangs over plenty of Houston kitchens, usually above a large pro-style range where the hood is sized to match the cooking surface.

The 75 W halogen lights and the metal grease filters are the parts owners notice first. Halogen bulbs get hot, so a socket that has browned or a bulb that keeps failing sends us to the wiring behind it. We also test each blower speed, listen for a rubbing fan wheel, and look at whether the grease filters are caked enough to choke the airflow.

Epicure and Millennia hoods look a lot alike, so the label on the hood tells us the exact version before a part is ordered. Some older parts are hard to find. We look into that before anything else, and a repair that would cost more than it is worth gets called out as such. Nothing starts until you have a written price, and workmanship is warranted for 30 days.

EHR48EHR48 questions
Which lights does the Dacor EHR48 use?

This model uses 75 W halogen lights. They get hot, so we look at the sockets and wiring when a bulb burns out again soon after replacement, and we confirm the right bulb type before you buy spares.

How often should the EHR48 grease filters be cleaned?

The metal grease filters can be washed, and a hood over a busy 48-inch range collects residue quickly. If the fan sounds strong but smoke lingers, loaded filters are the first thing we check, then the blower itself.

Do you repair older Epicure hoods like this one?

Yes. We test the lights, switch, and blower, and look over the filters. If a part cannot be found or the repair would cost too much for a hood this age, we tell you before any work begins.
