The DHD36U990W is a 36-inch chimney wall hood from Dacor, with a glass touch control and LED lights. It is available in silver or graphite stainless and is a current model. The visible stack above the canopy hides the duct, and that duct can have a damper inside.
When the draw is weak and the blower sounds fine, a damper that is stuck partly closed is a likely cause, and a quick look often settles it. What is a damper and why does it matter?
It is a flap in the duct that opens when the hood runs and closes when it stops. If it sticks, air cannot leave properly. We free it or replace it, and check that it moves.
The blower will not start but the lights work. Why?
The lights and the blower are controlled separately. We test the blower motor, its capacitor if it has one, and the control signal that tells it to start.
Do LEDs need to be replaced as a set?
Not always. We test the driver and each light, and replace only what has failed. A new driver often brings back lights that appeared dead.
