Dacor ERV30 Raised Downdraft Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Vent that sticks halfway up or down
  2. Grease buildup in the filter
  3. Blower noise or a blower that seems weak
  4. Switch that does not respond

The Dacor ERV30 is a 30-inch raised downdraft vent, sold with the ERV3015 variant for 30-inch ranges. It was planned to sit behind drop-in electric cooktops, rising from the counter when you cook and lowering again afterward. It is a discontinued model, but many of them are still working in Houston homes.

A downdraft is a different repair from an overhead hood because the moving part is the vent itself. When one sticks, we look at the rising mechanism, the switch that commands it, and any grease or spilled food that has worked into the track. We also check the filter, since grease buildup is the common reason the airflow drops, and listen to the blower for noise.

Epicure-era vents are discontinued, so we see what can still be ordered before starting and give you a straight answer if the repair would not pay off. The label shows the exact version, which prevents a wrong part from being ordered. The quote is in writing first, and workmanship carries a 30-day warranty.

ERV30ERV30 questions
My ERV30 vent will not come all the way up. What do you check?

We look at the lifting mechanism and its track for grease or debris, test the switch, and listen for the motor trying to move. Then we tell you which part is involved and what the repair costs.

Where does the ERV30 usually go?

It was planned for use behind drop-in electric cooktops, with the ERV3015 version made for 30-inch ranges. The vent rises from the counter surface, so the cabinet and ducting below it matter to the repair.

Is an old ERV30 worth fixing?

That depends on the part and the price. A sticking vent or a clogged filter is usually worth the repair, while a hard-to-find part may not be. We say which before any work begins.
