Dacor DHD36U990I Island Hood Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Weak capture caused by cross-drafts
- Control that does not respond
- Chimney sections that are out of alignment
- LED lights
The DHD36U990I is a 36-inch island hood, hung from the ceiling above a cooktop that stands free. It has a glass touch control, LED lights and a chimney that mounts to the ceiling. Dacor still lists it as a current model.
An island hood works in open air, with no wall behind it, so cross-drafts from a door, a fan or an open window can pull smoke away from the hood. Before we replace any part, we check whether the hood’s capture is the real problem. We also look at the chimney sections, since a misaligned joint can rattle or leave a gap, and then at the touch control and lights.
Mounting overhead affects access, so we plan the visit with a ladder and a helper in mind. The label gives us the model for any parts order, and the price comes in writing first.
Key features
- Island hood, 36 inches wide
- Glass touch control
- LED lights
- Ceiling-mounted chimney
Why does my island hood miss smoke from the cooktop?
Island hoods have no wall to help guide the air, so cross-drafts can carry smoke around the hood. We check the blower and filters, then talk through what in the room may be competing with it.
My chimney sections look uneven. Is that a repair?
Yes, in many cases. We check the ceiling mounting and each joint, realign the sections and make sure nothing is rubbing against the blower housing. Afterward we run the hood to confirm the rattle is gone.
The touch control does not respond. What do you test?
We test the glass panel and its connection, then the control board and the power it receives. A lockout setting is also possible, so we check that first.
